How I Use the Parisian Way of Eating to Feel Well, Stay Balanced, and Stay Connected
I lived in Paris for only a year, but the way Parisians eat left a lasting imprint on my life.
I come from a family where breakfast could not really be skipped, and lunch meant two or three courses. As you might guess, I let those habits slip during my early twenties.
Life was busy and unpredictable, and meals became rushed or rearranged.
But then I moved to Paris, and the lively pulse of this magical city guided me back to a better way of eating.
Eating in Paris returned me to something I hadn’t even realized I’d missed: structure, ritual, and joy. It reminded me that meals are more than fuel. They’re a way to pause, to connect, to notice the day unfold.
Breakfast became sacred again. Lunch has returned as a steady anchor in my day, no matter where I happen to live or work. And even now, in different cities and jobs, I still find ways to share lunch with others, just like I did back then. Dinner is now family time. It is our ritual of eating together, in peace, sharing the story of our days, the struggles, and the happy moments. Discussing our plans and ideas.
What I learned in Paris stayed with me, especially in the rhythm of everyday meals.
So what’s the secret?
What do Parisians do to keep their health and joy for life?
Well, there isn’t one, really. The Parisian approach is rooted in routine, consistency, and simplicity. Just rhythm and care.
I’ll share everything I’ve learned with you. And not only the food, but a lot more.
In the meantime, if you’d like to explore what research says about Parisian eating culture and its nutritional wisdom, wander over to The Library.
Until then,
Anna, the Lantern Keeper
